Dr. Akila Palani is a dedicated professional with over 24 years of experience in the field of Developmental Disabilities, specializing in Speech, Hearing, and Language diagnostics, therapy, research, and rehabilitation services. She is committed to enhancing the communication skills of children with Autism, ADHD, Learning Difficulties, and other developmental delays.
Dr. Akila completed her Bachelor’s degree in Audiology and Speech Language Pathology from Sri Ramachandra Medical College and Research Institute in 1998. She pursued her Post-Graduation at the All India Institute of Speech and Hearing (Mysore) in 2000. Certified as an ABA Trainer in 2008 and a Hanen-Certified Speech-Language Pathologist from the Hanen Center, Canada in 2013. She was awarded her Doctorate in 2022 for her research on “Phonological awareness and orthographic principles in Tamil dyslexic children.”
She has worked in various NGOs, medical colleges, and research institutes from 2000 to 2004. In April 2004, she founded BRIGHT – The Learning Center, offering specialized therapies for children with developmental delays. She has conducted numerous workshops for parents, training programs on speech and language therapy, and school screening initiatives through the Lions Club of Padi Shenoy Nagar.
